Prakash hai to Vikas hai- A scheme from UP Government that will offer free power connections to poor families
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Yogi Aditya Nath has launched Free Power Connections Scheme for the poor families living in the state. The scheme entitled – Prakash hai to Vikas hai was launched last year in December to celebrate former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birth anniversary. Two villages from UP namely Gausana and Lohban of the Mathura district are covered under this scheme. The poor families of these villages will get free electricity connections. It is a start and the State Government’s objective is to provide electricity in all villages in Uttar Pradesh.
Prakash hai to Vikas hai Scheme
For the welfare of BPL families, Uttar Pradesh State Government launched the Free Power Connections Scheme. The scheme will provide free electricity connections to the poor families. However, the APL (above poverty line) families will also be benefitted with this scheme as they will be allowed to pay their electricity bills in flexible EMIs.
Prakash hai to Vikas hai Scheme Target
Under the Prakash hai to Vikas hai Scheme, UP State Government is planning to cover around 16 million villages. The government is moving with a budget of Rs.4 crore and Gausana and Lohban villages will get 100% financing along with reasonable EMI options. The State Government has mentioned that there will be no discrimination made in terms of caste and creed for the distribution of power connections.
The scheme officials will be reviewed regarding the progress of the project at regular intervals. Under this scheme, the State Government will replace old thermal power plants with new ones and they will be distributing the power-saving LED bulbs in homes.
Prakash hai to Vikas hai Scheme Eligibility Criteria
The Prakash hai to Vikas hai Scheme will cover around 25 lakh houses with an estimated budget of Rs.4 crore.
- The BPL families can avail this scheme given that they provide their BPL card at the time of filling the application
- A BPL family’s yearly income must not exceed Rs. 35,000 /-
