Maharashtra Government in order to help the local farmers has come up with Solar Krushi Pump Yojana which is expected to cater their farming requirements. Under Maharashtra Solar Krushi Pump Yojana, the State Government will work to provide solar pumps to the local farmers at an affordable rate. That is, the farmers can avail the solar pumps at subsidized rates. It works in a way that the farmers will only have to pay 5% of the total cost of solar pumps. The scheme has officially started will provide a great benefit to local farmers of Maharashtra. The Contract and Maharashtra Solar Krushi Pump Yojana The Government of Maharashtra previously signed an agreement for establishing solar pumps (more than 10,000) in the state and therefore, the local farmers will be provided with around 5 lakh solar pumps. However, the solar pumps range between Rs.3-5 lakhs which seems way too expensive for the farmers. But under the Mahavitaran Solar Pump Scheme, it is a great relief for the farmers as they can buy the same by paying few percentage of the total cost of the pumps. Seeing that the government is providing subsidy on solar pumps, several farmers have already deposited the amount for installing solar pumps in their fields. About Maharashtra Solar Krushi Pump Yojana Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis introduced this ambitious project stating that this scheme will surely reduce the farmers’ struggle with higher costs of electricity bills. Moreover, he said that not only the agricultural sector but the industrial sector will also be benefited from Maharashtra Solar Krushi Pump Yojana. However, it is speculated that the State Government will have to bear a Rs.3500 crore burden for different unmetered or metered pumps.
